Fascinating illuminated clouds hanging over the Vesterålen in Norway. The photo captures waves in the Norwegian Sea breaking over rocks on the island Hadseløya.
First, this photography is stunning, the colors are bright and vibrant, the scene is amazing and it is a nice capture overall.
Compositionally, I think this shot could use a little work, everyone always talks about the rule of thirds, and while it is a rule that is meant to be broken, in this case I think the half and half framing is actually working against the shot. When I view this image, I am not quite sure whether the focus is the sky or the rocks in the foreground. Both are striking features, and both grab your attention equally. At the same time, a pure sky shot might have been a little boring, and composing for the ground may have left out some of the beautiful sky. Its a toss up and tough to really judge.
Tehcnically, this shot is very well done. Highlights and shadows are well controlled, the sky isnt overexposed and the foreground seems nicely exposed, with the exception of maybe a few shadows clipping in some of the rocks. The foam of the waves up close is a little bright.
While not necessarily needed, a longer exposure may have helped a bit in the foreground and given the image more smoothness in the foreground.
Overall, this is still a stunning image. Thanks for sharing!
