This photo of the Matterhorn taken on a cold evening in October conveys a mystic atmosphere. After the first snowfall, the Stelli Lake is slightly snow-covered but still ice-free. The long exposure captures the moving clouds above the mountain tops of the Valais Alps.
Oh, my goodness. That's the first thing I thought when I saw it in my deviantWATCH files. Yes, there was lots of pictures along wtih this, but this picture, what makes it have such a great impact, is that it stood out from the rest, without begging for attention. The second thing I thought, was "This has GOT to be a manipulation. This can't be real."
And as I looked through your description, I was pleasantly surprised that this was a photograph, not a combined picture of many images. Which scores a 5 / 5 on both Originality and in Vision.
But, to get the 5 / 5 in Technique, I had to assess all of the variables in this photograph, and I'll talk about them here. You made each piece of glacier (?) have a reflection, and maybe I'm just a sucker to symmetry but the way it reflects from the water, enhances it SO much more than if sky was just there. The sky that overlaps with a dark blue and a perky sky blue blends in so well that it's hard to believe this is a photograph.
I will be privately +Watching you, this has left such a great impression on you. And I suggest the rest do as well.
My first thought when I saw this was "WOW!!" What beautiful scenery, the snow covered landscape, the clouds reflected on the water, the rocks creating a foreground that makes the image even more interesting. The rugged shape of the landscape as well as the cold color tones give this photo a feel of late winter or even early spring with the snow only covering parts of the landscape. There are a few spots that are a bit over exposed but with this photo they help set the mood and scene in a very pleasant way. Nicely captured, thank you so much for sharing this with us.
The lake reflection is surreal! I also love the long exposure you did to capture the clouds; that adds to the sense of mystery and depth in this photograph!
